So Here We Are

It’s football season. We are here again, and quite frankly, I really don’t what to expect tonight.

In the early 1990s I had felt, in all honesty, the Buffalo Bills were the second best team in the NFL. Four consecutive Superbowl losses later that feeling was proven correct. This time around, again in all sincerity, I believe they are a legitimate contender to win the Superbowl. Yes, I know all about the painful loss Bills Mafia endured some nine months ago. All about those excruciating thirteen seconds, but this team isn’t the Superbowl Bills teams of the 1990s. Different players, different coaches, and an entirely different outlook.

No, this is definitely different than those teams and, it is for that reason, I don’t know what to expect as they open against the reigning champion Los Angeles Rams. However, I keep coming back to the same feeling that is far different than past 1990s me — this time around I do think they’re the best team in the NFL. Not second best. Not another team that can start their own run of Superbowl losses. This time around I think they can actually win it all.

Only time will tell if this feeling is accurate. As the cliche says, This is why they play the games. The fact is for the first time, really ever in my life, I do think the Bills are actually legitimate.

We’ll see in February just how well this post will age.
