The Thanksgiving Message

First off, I wish everyone a very blessed and wonderful U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday – no matter what country you reside in, and where you’re reading this message.

I know. It’s difficult.

I do not suffer from anxiety or depression, but I’m very sympathetic for those that do. While I can be an avid news watcher yesterday I needed a break. There is so much in the world right now. Ukraine. Israel/Hamas. Anger, hate, conflict has always been around in the world since the dawn of humanity, but there are points where it simmers on the global stove and other times where the heat turns up and threatens to boil over. We’re at one of these points in geopolitics now. That being said for the sake of a mental break I changed the channel. It doesn’t mean that the situations are resolved – people are still suffering, but for a brief period of time I was in need of a mental pause, and so I took it.

After a few hours I returned only to find that there was a car explosion at the Rainbow Bridge, and there was concern that it might have been a terrorist attack. It has since been confirmed that the accident was not an act of terrorism, but that didn’t stop the hours of speculation by local and national news outlets. My break from the news was decidedly short.

All this got me thinking that there are points, and if one is able to, unplug yourself for just a few hours. We don’t need to check our social media feeds every few minutes, and we don’t need to watch or listen to the news for countless hours. It’s important to stop, take a breath, and enjoy the friends and family that are around us. That is what I’m most thankful for this holiday. That I still have the ability to do that – unplug.

So again, a very Happy Thanksgiving to everyone where ever you might be reading this. Now please go ahead and enjoy your day.
